discussion of your dog's history, experiences and behaviors, as well
as how you have interacted with and taught your dog.
Next
I interact with your dog to learn how and why he stresses or makes
poor choices; what interferes with his learning; what enhances his
learning; how he problem solves. With this information I can set up
the best teaching program to assure a safe, trusting two-way relationship.
I
conclude the assessment with basic management tools to help you keep
your dog safe and out of trouble. This also lays the foundation for
successful teaching.
Either
we begin teaching (see session 1) or this ends the session. This concludes
the assessment. If I return within 30 days to start the teaching program
the cost of the assessment is deducted from the teaching program.
The Teaching Program for Basic Dog Teaching
Cost: $495 plus GST
These dogs have no real problems or minor issues with manners or skills.
We will teach you proper management and good teaching to build a good
relationship.
This
course offers you a chance to teach your dog as the friend he is -
no force, control or bribery. Instead we help you become a good teacher.
Session 1 - assessment and teaching - 1 ½ hours
A discussion of your dog's history, experiences and behaviors, as
well his experiences. Next I interact with your dog to learn how and
why he stresses or makes poor choices; what interferes with his learning;
what enhances his learning; how he problem solves. With this I can
set up the best teaching program to assure a safe, trusting relationship.
Then
we give your dog his 'instruction manual' for the human world: the
standards and expectation we have - respecting personal space, ability
to be calm and focused, good manners, boundaries, freedoms and controls.
You will learn how to help your dog learn the calmness and focus needed
for learning.
You
will be instructed in the magic of good management - your key for
handling the dog when you cannot teach or the dog cannot learn. The
first steps will be taken, as required, in manners, , leash and off
leash skills, commands, and problem solving in your main area of concern.
Finally
you will learn practical, efficient and appropriate teaching that
helps your dog learn in an environment of safety and trust. We teach
you how to be good guides, mentors, coaches and parents.
Sessions 2 to 4 - 1 hour each in home or park
We continue the teaching in those areas selected at the first session.
By the completion of the course you will be managing well; able to
help your dog learn well and he will have gained skills in all the
areas or your concern.
Telephone / E-Mail Consultation
We include an e-mail and phone consultation package for the life of
your dog, to get help with our techniques or for any questions that
may arise over the years.
Client Assessment and Teaching Journal
Our teaching journal is designed to support and guide you.
One Time Teaching 1 ½ hours $190 plus
GST
Some clients have dogs with only one problem that they need some insight
and guidance that require only one session. You will get a brief assessment
in order to establish the right management and teaching for the problem
and then we work with you to resolve the situation. Written information
for this problem is provided along with telephone and email follow-
up for the next 30 days.
Workshops 1 hour $125 plus GST or 3 for
$345 plus GST
Either you wish to continue your learning by addressing another concern
or problem or you have completed an entire teaching program and now
wish to do advanced work. Written updates and support for this teaching
will be provided.
