Our Goal
Puppies need to be given a chance to learn in safety and without fear. We will help you understand puppy behavior so that you will know how to teach and when to teach. We want you to be able to help your puppy grow up to be a problem free dog. Our goal is to assure your puppy develops well in the first year becoming a polite, self controlled adult dog.

We will show you how to teach in a way that reflects how puppies learn, utilizing their social cures and responses as they try and learn how to belong. We will help you understand their abilities developmentally as well as personally so that you will be the best teacher you can be for your puppy.

You will be taught practical, efficient and appropriate teaching that helps your puppy learn and grow in an environment of safety and trust. We teach you how to be good guides, mentors, coaches and parents - the perfect teacher.

 

 

In Home Assessment for Puppies
45 min

Here we discuss your dog's history, experiences and behaviors as well as how you have interacted with and taught your puppy.Next I interact with your puppy to learn how and why he stresses or makes poor choices; what interferes with his learning; what enhances his learning; how he problem solves. With this information I can set up the best teaching program to assure a safe, trusting two-way relationship .I conclude the assessment with basic management tools to help you keep the puppy safe and to lay the foundation for successful teaching.This concludes the assessment. Either we begin teaching ( see session 1) or this ends the session. If I return within 30 days to start the teaching program the cost of the assessment is deducted from the teaching program.

The Teaching Program for Puppies

Session One 1 - assessment and teaching
1½ hours
First the assessment is done. Then we begin teaching by giving your pup his 'instruction manual' for the human world. It will guide his understanding of your standards and expectations; manners, personal space; bathroom duties; safe socialization and good play: and other issues that are of concern to your and your puppy.

Session2 - 1 hour
This is an off-leash session. This is such an important lesion for you to learn. Once your understand how to help your puppy be safe and reliable off-leash your pup will be able to have exercise and good doggy fun. Both are essential for healthy development and for a happy future.

Sessions 3 - 4 - 1 hour each - in home or in park
These 2 sessions can be used at any time when you and your puppy are ready to progress to the next step of your learning. These sessions continue the manners program started in Session 1 as well as teaching the basics for good leash skills and commands.

Telephone / E-Mail Consultation
We include an e-mail and phone consultation package for the life of your dog, to get help with our techniques or for any questions that may arise over the years.

Client Assessment and Teaching Journal
Our teaching journal is designed to support and guide you. It includes a booklet that will guide your journey with your puppy. It will be an invaluable resource for you.
Cost: $365 plus GST

One Time Teaching 1 ½ hours
Some clients have dogs with only one problem that they need some insight and guidance that require only one session. You will get a brief assessment in order to establish the right management and teaching for the problem and then we work with you to resolve the situation. Written information for this problem is provided along with telephone and email follow- up for the next 30 days.
Cost:$190 plus GST

Workshops 1 hour
Either you wish to continue your learning by addressing another concern or problem or you have completed an entire teaching program and now wish to do advanced work. Written updates and support for this teaching will be provided
Cost:$125 plus GST or 3 for $345 plus GST
